Mastered: Master of Portraiture
Figurative realist portrait painter Andrew Tift has amassed a wealth of impressive awards for his stunning works including the prestigious BP Portrait Award. Recognised as one of the leading portrait painters of his generation he has had solo shows in UK and USA and has been collected by National Portrait Gallery, Westminster Palace, House of Commons and House of Lords and The Smithsonian Institute.
As well as a long list of famous sitters Andrew enjoys finding interesting people from all walks of life such as Native American Indians, Hippies and Vietnam veterans (during a project at his American gallery in Santa Fe) to care workers, Jazz musicians, Mafia members and Cosplay punks. He has also photographed Steelworkers, Musicians and Hells Angels from the Black Country.
“I found my subject matter in my early 20's and never looked back. People are endlessly fascinating to me and I find portraiture totally absorbing and enduring", he said.
Andrew has exhibited his work in public and commercial galleries throughout the world and has work in many collections.
Look out for a major solo, homecoming exhibition in Summer 2018 at the New Art Gallery Walsall.
