When literally surrounded by books it is no wonder inspiration took hold of Gemma Todd to put pen to paper and write her own novel. While others dream of becoming a best-selling author Gemma is well on her way with a six-figure sum for a four-book deal from one of the UK’s biggest publishers.
Gemma, from Willenhall, has been an avid book reader from her school days and now drives a huge 35ft mobile library around Walsall.
“This book wouldn’t have happened if it hadn’t been for this job,” Gemma told the Express & Star. “Being surrounded by books, having conversations every day about these creative worlds, it’s really important to me. People come out with these golden nuggets of truth, and it’s great. Everyone is different.”
Her debut novel, Defender, penned under the name GX Todd, has received great comments from The Guardian as well as rave reviews on Amazon.
When not scaring other road users, she can generally be found writing or building LEGO sets.
In a world where long drinks are in short supply, a stranger listens to the voice in his head telling him to buy a lemonade from the girl sitting on a dusty road.
The moment locks them together.
Here and now it's dangerous to listen to your inner voice. Those who do, keep it quiet.
These voices have purpose.
And when Pilgrim meets Lacey, there is a reason. He just doesn't know it yet.
Defender pulls you on a wild ride to a place where the voices in your head will save or slaughter you.
