Geoff Townsend

Mastered: Pottery
Location: Dudley

Geoff is a skilled potter who has made work for galleries and exhibitions.

He has dedicated his spare time to pass on his skills and knowledge to countless local people for the last 40-50 years teaching in local colleges and on summer courses at Loughborough University.

For the last 37 years, he has organised a pottery festival day in Sedgley inviting famous and respected potters from around the world to share their knowledge and practice with up to 75 local students and crafts people.

He also regularly organises free Raku and pit firing events and trips to pottery museums and workshops to get students involved and informed.

“His selfless passion for the subject is boundless and he deserves an award such as this for long service to the cause of the oldest craft in the world!” Comments Geoff’s 100 Masters nominator.
